We will examine the slate furniture at Penrhyn the Neo-Norman castle built in 1819-35 by Thomas Hopper for George Dawkins Pennant, whose great-uncle Richard Pennant made a fortune from the slate mines of north-west Wales.
Private visits include the family home of Hartsheath, a secluded Georgian mansion alongside the river Alyn just outside Pontblyddyn.
